About

History of The Clonestar Podcast.

The Clonestar Podcast began as the idea of Seosamh Hurley, a proudly unapologetic champion of Star Trek: The Animated Series, and Seán Ferrick, whose head contained a possibly unsafe quantity of Star Trek trivia.

The original mission was simple: work through every season of Star Trek, starting with The Original Series, and view it through a distinctly Irish lens. Early episodes leaned into long-held assumptions, including the idea that William Shatner’s acting might deserve some gentle scrutiny. As the conversations unfolded, it became clear that many of those assumptions didn’t quite hold up. That moment of reassessment set the tone for what Clonestar would become.

In 2023, Seán stepped away from the podcast to explore new ventures. That same year, Mike Overton joined the crew as co-host and designer, bringing creative direction and a clear visual identity to the show. Mike also launched Ten Forward, expanding the podcast’s format with thoughtful reflections on modern Star Trek.

The following year saw another evolution. In 2024, Jodi Pickens joined as co-host, adding warmth, curiosity, and a deep love of books and storytelling to the conversations.

As the podcast grew, so did its scope. Interviews became a central part of Clonestar, capturing stories from people connected to Star Trek both on and off screen, while exploring the ideas that have kept the franchise relevant for decades.

Today, The Clonestar Podcast is a space for considered discussion, occasional disagreement, and genuine connection. It’s a place away from the louder, more polarised corners of the internet, where fans can celebrate the universe they love together, thoughtfully and openly.
